Katie Owen: Wrong All Wrong

Katie Owen We ventured to a long abandoned Victorian lunatic asylum to shoot this atmospheric video for immensely talented singer/ songwriter Katie Owen. The asylum has its very own derelict theatre which we made great use of as well as miles of spooky corridors - you cant buy atmosphere like this! See if you can spot the guest appearance of a ghost in the video!!

NG26: One More Road From Home

NG26 Light Engine Films produced this video for the latest single, "One More Road From Home" by hard rock act NG26 who are signed to Topshaw Records. On a very cold November afternoon we hauled drums, cabs, guitars, lights, cranes and pyros up a couple of rickety step ladders on to the roof of our beloved abandoned nut and bold factory to shoot this video for NG26- as darkness descended the music played and the madness began. Our aim was to produce a fast moving, exciting vid that would capture the awesome power and energy of NG26 and produce something epic with a view to gaining TV air play. To say the band are pleased with the results would be a gross understatement. UPDATE: The video is now enjoying TV air play on several UK satellite music channels as well as being play listed on several european music channels.

Lizzy Williams: Fake It

Lizzy Williams One of the ways we can keep costs down on a video is by "doubling up" on shoots, basically meaning that when a certain location is booked for an artist, we get a second artist along before the main artist arrives to use that location / studio etc. This does put a strict limit on the amount of time available to shoot but because were already set up at that location, it means you don't pay for the location or set up. On this video for Fake It we "doubled up" on two locations, one was a disused mental asylum that had been booked for a major shoot, the other was a green screen studio. Although we were on a very limited time slot, we worked quickly and efficiently with Lizzy Williams to produce a video with a far bigger budget look than it actually was.

New Vinyl: Call for Rebellion

New Vinyl Light Engine Films shot a video for New Vinyl back in 2006 - We've both come a long way since then! We were delighted when they asked us to produce a video for their latest single "Call For Rebellion". The video was shot in three locations, a school yard, a mock news desk in a recording studio and a derelict warehouse where we blew up some televisions - a must for all music vids or simply as a leisure activity... Watch out for New Vinyl in 2010 as there is a major record deal in the offing.

Smoking Rolo Side Show:This Is Not That

Smoking Rolo Side Show The Smoking Rolo Side Show have wanted to shoot this video for a number of years but couldn't find a production outfit that could produce the standard of work they wanted on an affordable budget- untill they found us! We traveled to Alnwick in Northumberland for the two day shoot for "This is not that". The Smoking Rolo Side Show had provided us with a clear and detailed synopsis of what they wanted but gave us a totally free rain with the direction, they had also extensively researched locations. The shoot was very efficient and great fun for all concerned- even though it involved a 5am start. The weekend was a great success. The Smoking Rolo Side Show now have the video they have always wanted.

Young Reyes: Friday Night

Young Reyes

Sasha T: Shona

Sasha T Sasha T is an exciting up and coming artist with a major management company behind her who wanted a video that would get her major TV exposure. Sasha flew in from Ireland to shoot this video for her new single "Shona". Its a mixture of live action shot in London's Docklands and green screen shot at our central London studio.

Primitai: Line of Fire

Primitai We were delighted when after the success of their first video, Primitai came back for a second helping of madness with us - and we promptly booked them into the mental asylum. On a previous shoot at the asylum our immensely talented genius of a director (he's also quite a hunk, girls) noticed that in the late afternoon when the sun came round to the front of the abandoned theatre it shone shafts of light over the stage from behind, so the plan was to put haze in the air to create a very dramatic and moody look, lighting the band from the sides and using the shafts of sunlight through haze as back light - and guess what, the plan actually worked! There was talk of hiring a pirate ship for the cut aways, but we couldn't find one for love nor money and the cost of building our own would put us slightly over budget - the executive decision was made to use some old WW2 stock footage of ships, guns and explosions leaving us all free to go to the pub.

MLR: You Cant Hide

MLR MLR made the journey from the hip and happening streets of North London to a place where it's really happening - an abandoned military hospital in rural Lincolnshire to shoot this video for their debut single "You Can't Hide".

Katie Owen: Better Things to Do

Katie Owen This is the second video we have produced for Katie Owen and along with the first is to form part of a nationwide advertising campaign to be shown, amongst other places, in over 600 cinemas nationwide.

Massion: What We Are

Massion The band travelled up from London to two derelict locations in Sheffield to shoot this madness. It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it......

Death by Orchestra: The Ground Leaves Nothing

Death by Orchestra Mysterious things were going on at an abandoned nut and bolt factory in Sheffield in the middle of a wet July night. Strange music filled the air and a luminous orange and red mist swirled around the crumbling brick work. Shadowy figures darted about and within a couple of hours Light Engine Films had shot this atmospheric video for Death by Orchestra's new single, The Ground Leaves Nothing. UPDATE: This video has received rave reviews and has had numerous plays on TV in the UK, US and even Japan!

The Find: Blue Sky Dreams

The Find The video for "Blue Sky Dreams", by The Find was shot in late January 09 at the world famous London Palladium. Our basic brief was to shoot the band playing in the atmospheric theatre, whilst it was deserted. We worked alongside the theatre's stage and lighting technicians to create a feel of energy and excitement within the still and calm of the empty ornate old theatre. We only had a 4 hour slot for the shoot, including setting up, so had to work very intensely and efficiently. The day was a great success and immensely enjoyable for all concerned. The Find don't think the video's too bad either and it is currently being plugged to TV stations across Europe and America.

Steve Anderson ft Pippa

Steve Anderson This is the latest single by internationally renowned producer Steve Anderson, featuring Pippa Fulton who is ex Fame Academy and has gone on to be friends with someone from Big Brother 5 and regularly appears at clubs in Hull. The video was shot at the notorious Park Hill Flats in Sheffield and at Dam Flask in the Peak district - One day, when the dust settles, I'll write a book about the making of this video.....

Scott Peden: Sauchihall St

Scott Peden Scott Peden is a Scottish actor who has appeared in many films and TV shows who 18 months ago decided to try his hand at becoming a singer/songwriter - the result was a rather brilliant debut album of which "Sauchiehall St" is the title track. When Light Engine Films were asked to produce a video for the track, we couldn't help wondering what Scott would make of our rather unconventional style of guerilla film making after being used to high budget productions with large crews, catering and working toilets. We spent a very intensive nights shooting on the streets of Glasgow with mobile generators and lighting, having to set up and get takes very quickly in order to dodge late night drunks and the attention of Strathclyde constabulary. It was utter madness but great fun and thankfully Scott was impressed by our approach and even more impressed by the results.

Suliman Khan

Suliman Khan This video for rising Asian music star Suliman Khan was shot partly in a Birmingham green screen studio and partly on the snow coverd Peak District - was the hypothermia worth it? You decide....

One Relation:No Reason Why

One Relation Our aim with this video for One Relation was to juxtapose the gritty edge of the rapped verse with the female sung chorus by the use of very different textures, styles and locations. We had a day out visiting Sheffield's urban decay to shoot many takes that would be cut together for the verse before heading out to the Derbyshire Peak District and hauling generator, lights and crane cross country to illuminate an iron age fort at sunset for the chorus. It was complete and utter madness - but great fun, and the video worked!

Chima:

Tytania: Poker Face

Tytania Tytania asked us to produce a video for their fantastic cover of Lady Ga Ga's Poker Face - quite a tall order on a tight budget when you consider the production values of the original. Our aim was to first and foremost capture the energy of what is a kick ass rock band, so it was time to unscrew the boards of our derelict nut and bolt factory once more- but we needed to include reference to the original Ga Ga video. One quick call to our master of the strange Tia-anna and hey presto, we had our very own Lady Ga Ga! - all be it a darkly disturbing transvestite version, what could possibly go wrong? The cut aways were shot at a pole dancing club in Rotherham - it's the Hollywood of the North you know!

Fat Digester:Sweet Sweet

Fat Digester Fat Digester wanted a video that would capture both their high level of musicianship, as well as the manic energy of the ten piece band on stage. Between us we came up with this rather kooky video for their latest single "Sweet Sweet". It was shot over two consecutive weekends in Nottingham and certainly captures the insanity of the shoot rather well - every one got very pissed, but lo' and behold a video emerged out of the carnage.

Primita: The Craft

Primita We trekked into deepest darkest Lincolnshire to meet up with London based rock outfit Primita at a long abandoned psychiatric unit to shoot this video. The atmosphere was heavy with the echoes of tortured souls of the long dead as we fired the generators up, shattering the still of the overgrown corridors. We managed to escape with our sanity intact and a rather nice video - a result all round.

Zoo: Leave It All Behind

Zoo This is the second video that Light Engine Films have produced for award winning jazz outfit, Zoo. We combined moody performance footage of the band shot at the stylish Escucha club in Nottingham with some stock footage that we shot a couple of years ago featuring the Highlands of Scotland and the Dawlish coast line to produce this rich and stylish video.

Viper Jungle:

Viper Jungle This video that we produced for Viper Jungle's Homeless Skank is a good example of a location performance mixed with loosely storyboarded cut aways and features our resident transvestite Tia-anna-sore-arse-wreck playing the part of a homeless tranny. To immerse herself in the part Tia very kindly drank two bottles of White Storm cider (like White lightning but cheaper and stronger) to fully get herself into the mind set of a ranting lunatic wino. The video was shot entirely on location in and around Sheffield over two consecutive Saturday afternoons and shows the gritty urban realism of the location and characters to good effect.

Walk Don't Walk: Day From Hell

Walk Don't Walk The original concept for this video for Birmingham based Walk Don't Walk was going to be a spoof of "Dragons Den" but then we got our resident master of the strange Tia-anna sore arse wreck involved, reviving the character of Igor and things went rapidly down hill... The video was shot in a day at one of our Sheffield "studios". If the band look worried its because the floor mas moving as they performed! (Don't worry we probably won't be using that particular studio again) Needless to say everyone got out alive - they say that they actually enjoyed the experience and have a video they can be proud of to boot!

The Kamen: The Man I Am

The Kamen The aim of this video was to capture the live energy of powerful rock band The Kamen "giving it some" in an interesting environment. A derelict post office in Mexborough was the setting for the performance. We were very lucy in the fact that the sun was casting shafts of light across the room that with the addition of a little smoke made a very moody setting. The cut-aways were shot at some run down flats in Gleadless and had to be done very quickly before our wheels got nicked from the motors - yes its a glamorous life making budget music videos!

Sewer Suckers: Falling

Sewer Suckers This video for Sewer Suckers was shot on an October afternoon at one of our Sheffield "studios" Our aim was to capture the raw energy and madness of the band with a performance based video. Everyone involved had a great time on the shoot and the Sewer suckers are more than happy with the result and hope to work with us again in the near future. The Sewer Suckers say: GUYS JUST PASSING BY TO SAY WHAT A GREAT DAY WE HAD JUST TO SAY WHO EVER READS THIS JUST WATCH THE SEWERSUCKERS VID TO SEEE WHAT THESE GUYS DO THANKS AND SEE YOU ALL SOON ALL THE BEST GAZ AND THE BOYS

Meaven: Queen Of Hearts

Meaven This promo for Sheffield all girl rock outfit Maeven was shot in about 4 hours on 19th April 2008 at an abandoned church in Sheffield and is a good example of a simple but effective performance video. Maeven have toured the US with the likes of Dogs D'Amour so were slightly less than impressed when they turned up to the video shoot on a cold grey wet afternoon at a dilapidated abandoned church and had to get their gear inside through a window! Luckily for us they saw the funny side - after about half an hour they even thought they might actually get a video out of it! At the end of the days shoot they admitted to us that they'd actually had a whale of a time and are very excited about the video.
